Is Jon Hamm too old to play Superman?
Zack Snyder (director-300, Watchman) is preparing for a new Superman film, but who should he cast as Clark Kent?
The first person I think of when I think of the caped hero is Jon Hamm. He has the perfect look to play Clark Kent. Tall, dark, all-American. (So does Tom Welling who portrays Kent on Smallville and he would be good, but I don’t see that happening.)
However, some commenters, and Hamm himself, say that he is too old to don the tights. Sure Hamm is too old, if Snyder is planning to rehash the same old origin story. But if he considered taking the film (and most likely, franchise) in a different direction than Hamm is perfect. If Clark Kent ever grew up and dealt with the challenges of having a life and being a superhero or keeping his secret identity, than the more original film would be a great vehicle for an actor like Hamm.
